The New Tyrants (Above the Law)
George Washington, Father of our Country and signer of our
Constitution, stated in his Farewell Address: “Of all the
dispositions and habits, which will lead to political
prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports…
Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for
reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation
desert the oaths? And let us with caution indulge the
supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.
Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education
on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both
forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail, in
exclusion of religious principle.”
The Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals continued:
Against the weight of all this evidence, Chief Justice
Moore’s insistence in his briefs and argument, and in part of
his testimony, that the Ten Commandments as presented in his
monument have a purely secular application is unconvincing.
(Because there is no agnostic or atheistic purpose for the
monument, it must be removed.)
Noah Webster, who was the author of the American Dictionary and
was largely responsible for much of the Constitutional
Convention, stated, “The opinion that human reason left without
the constant control of Divine laws and commands will… give
duration to a popular government is as chimerical [unlikely] as
the most extravagant ideas that enter the head of a maniac.
Where will you find any code of laws among civilized men in
which the commands and prohibitions are not founded on Christian
principles?”
